Associate Director of Student Accounts

Position: Reporting to the Director of Student Accounts, the Associate Director will assist in managing the day-to-day operational and supervisory aspects of the Office which consists of 10 employees (4 professional staff and 6 union staff).

Responsibilities: Assist the Director with managing the daily operations of the Student Accounts Office and spearhead the continued automation of key processes within the Office. These responsibilities include: implementation of the Office’s annual calendar of activities, training professional and support staff, preparation of monthly and annual reports, continuing development and refinement of office technology systems, developing reports to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, updating office policies and procedures manual and collaborating with the Offices of Admissions, Office of  Financial Aid, the Registrar, the Controller, Computing and Information Systems and other internal and external constituents. Incumbent will be responsible for monitoring all aspects of the CASHNet® suite of products.  CASHNet is a 3rd party which enables students to view their bills and pay tuition and related expenses online. The CASHNet suite includes ePayment, eBilling, and MyPaymentPlan (MPP) products.  The Associate Director will also maintain a high level of professionalism and quality of service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a bachelors degree and five years experience in student accounts or a related area.  They must also have supervisory experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills and be customer service orientated.  A knowledge of Microsoft Office is required with knowledge of Sungard HE’s Banner software application (run on Oracle database) a plus.

Office of Enrollment Management

Description:
Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Bursar will be responsible for all aspects of the University's billing and collection of accounts receivable and loans, as well as the management of department staff. The Bursar will also assume overall responsibility for the Bursar function, ensuring quality customer service to the University community and effective and efficient departmental operations. Also, the Bursar will provide management, guidance, training and evaluation to the department staff. In addition, the Bursar works in cooperation with Information Technology to ensure scheduling of on-line and batch activities of the Accounts Receivable Information Systems (SunGard Banner) as well as maintenance, modification requests/product upgrades and subsequent testing and problem resolution.

The Bursar identifies, develops and implements software enhancements to improve the efficiency and integrity of the Office, and oversees the reconciliation of all accounts to the general ledger. The Bursar also works closely with internal and external auditors to ensure all information is provided and requests are met; interprets, implements, and administers University policies as well as state and federal regulations as they relate to assessment, billing, financial aid disbursement, loan programs and collections; and has overall responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing the University and the NCAA.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and 5 years of progressive financial experience in a college or university setting, ideally as a Bursar or Assistant Bursar. Strong financial, analytical, information technology and critical thinking skills are required. Candidates must have solid communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work independently as well as within a team. Working knowledge of Student Information Systems and related third party software preferred, SunGuard Banner experience a plus.

Assistant Director of Student Accounts (Loans and Title IV) Student Financial Services

The New School seeks an assistant Director of Student Accounts in the University Student Financial Services (SFS) Office. The primary responsibilities of this position include the delivery of Federal Family Education Loan and private educational loan program funds to the university and our students, the timely refunding of loan funds to students and parents and Title IV compliance. The Assistant Director works as part of the SFS team and reports to the Director of Student Accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate and timely disbursement of student loan
    funds.
  • Oversee the timely refunding of student accounts, including all
    Federal and private loan money in excess of tuition charges to students.
  • Responsible for loan returns to guarantors or federal and state
    agencies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate Title IV recalculations in compliance
    with federal regulations.
  • Work directly with students and lenders regarding loan
    disbursements, loan reissues and refunds.
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to students, parents, and
    staff as it relates to New School information and SFS related issues.
  • Assist in the delivery of e-commerce solutions to students and
    families.
  • Counsel students and parents on all aspects of student
    accounts.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of the disbursement and
    returns of loan funds, and for paper and electronic refunds.
  • Special projects and research as needed.

Requirements:

  • BA/ BS require.
  • Three or more years of administrative experience in higher
    education environment, preferably in student financial services office.
  • Knowledge of federal financial aid programs and regulations a
    plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and
    interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a diverse,
    dynamic team of professionals.
  • Experience in accounts receivable reconciliation.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer/student service skills.
  • Familiarity with SCT Banner system or comparable administrative
    software.

Assistant Director of Financial Aid at the Juilliard School

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for assisting the Director in developing and implementing procedures to streamline and enhance student customer service. The Assistant Director is also responsible for managing all aspects of the institutionís various loan programs and assisting in the planning, implementation and maintenance of the Financial Aid Office automated delivery system and the operation of the Financial Aid Office.

Requirements: A bachelorís degree and two to three years experience working in a college financial aid office. Experience using electronic financial aid processing and knowledge of financial aid regulations. Strong skills in using PC software packages such as Word, Excel and Access. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
